 'SENSATIONAL!' The Courier Mail
'It's the start of big things for the band.' The Today Show
'Teen sensations Freak Morice...opened the [Q Song awards] night with a stellar performance making them one to watch.' Brisbane Times
Drawing on influences as diverse as Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, The Jonas Brothers and Bruno Mars, Freak Morice makes ever-evolving music that has been described as the voice of their generation.
Rather than being fabricated overnight teen sensations, this band is committed to writing and performing songs that speak to their fans with catchy melodies and honest lyrics.
The award winning band draws on a long tradition of musical families. Freak Morice is the Ferguson siblings - Kahlia (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Daniel (lead guitar and back up vocals), Shani (keys and back up vocals), Nathan (bass and back up vocals) and Joel (drums and back up vocals).
On the live scene, the band marked 2010 with some of their biggest shows to date, including playing the main support for Powderfinger and Jet while sharing the bill with the likes of Jimmy Barnes, Paul Kelly, Jon Stevens, Michael Paynter & Dan Sultan at the Caloundra Music Festival. Freak Morice also featured as the opening act at Queensland's annual Q Song Awards night at Brisbane's historic Tivoli Theatre along side artists like Kev Carmody, Yves Klein Blue & Hungary Kids of Hungary, then went on to sell out the launch of their debut EP Secret Handshake.
Freak Morice's ability to deliver a vibrant, engaging show also attracted national television attention with appearances on Channel 9's Today Show, along side Creative Generation and Toasted TV on Network 10.
While the band continues to impress live, their performance as songwriters has been fascinating to watch too, earning them a well deserved collection of State and National awards. This recognised confidence and ability is all over the new tracks now taking shape.
With a new record and even bigger live shows planned for 2011, Freak Morice is one band definitely pushing the boundaries to earn national and global success.
