“IT AIN’T OVER ‘TIL THE SCHOOL BELL RINGS”

Today the MySchoolAct team announced the final call for submissions into the online talent competition created exclusively for Australian high school students, with entries closing on Friday December 2 at 5pm AEDT. After months of late night rehearsals, endless Facebook events and hundreds of hours spent refining guitar solos, this is the last opportunity for Australian High School students to submit their music and be in the running to receive up to $50,000 of recording and marketing spend from Sony Music, up to $15,000 from Sony/ATV Publishing and a spot at the Big Day Out 2012 beside Noel Gallagher and Soundgarden thanks to Motorola.

Nearly 500 Australian High School acts have uploaded and promoted themselves in this online community at www.myschoolact.com Participants are encouraged to gather support from their local community with many bands becoming front page local celebrities in the last few months as the competition gains momentum. Entry is free…all high school bands or solo artists can apply and all genres are welcomed…so get cracking!

“Sony/ATV is excited to be continuing our involvement with My School Act. The level of talented songwriters and musicianship that exists within the high schools of Australia never ceases to amaze me. We are keen to hear the next crop of artists in this fantastic competition and look forward to working alongside the 2011 winner.” Damian Trotter – Managing Director – Sony ATV

Entries close December 2nd 2011 and the top five finalists will be flown to Sydney for an exclusive weekend workshop culminating in the Grand Final On December 11 where the winner will be announced. Late entries or acts who have been snowed under with school this year should not despair. MySchoolAct will hand select two Wildcards from the talent pool and add them to the finals showcase. If you have a friend, son, daughter, niece, student, brother or sister in high school who is an aspiring musician; Facebook, Tweet or check them in them now because there is still time for them to chase their dream! Visit www.myschoolact.com to register.

“It is fantastic to witness the enormous support local communities have shown for their Acts. We’ve seen a large number of musicians in remote areas exposed through various media channels; this year’s competition has highlighted some very strong talent from diverse genres. MySchoolAct is so warmed by the positive feedback we have received from teachers, parents, fans, and of course the young musicians competing in this year’s competition.” Glenn Matthews – COO and Co-Founder of MySchoolAct
