1. The MySchoolAct Definition of Cyber Bullying
We define cyber bullying as any deliberately or negligently harmful or aggressive act of communication administered, broadcast or transmitted online or via any communication devices. This includes - but is not restricted to - the use of information (whether true or false) and/or inappropriate language and / or images in each instance in a way which is intended to or which the communicator knows or ought to know will or is likely to embarrass, intimidate, humiliate, distress or otherwise cause harm to others.
We believe that cyber bullying, by nature of its anonymity and potential to escalate through broad unrestricted public access and supporting commentary, is a harmful and potentially dangerous offence.
My School Act's Cyber Bullying Policy is operated on a strict Zero Tolerance (as defined below) basis. Online harassment can be a criminal offence, so we take this Policy including our cyber bullying prevention strategies very seriously.
2. MySchoolAct Cyber Bulling Policy
The team at MySchoolAct wishes to provide a safe and secure online environment whereby everyone can show their talent to the world without the fear of being subjected to cyber bullying.
Our website provides an exciting platform for you and your friends to perform in the music industry. Its many tools and features are built on the premise that contestants will work together, interact and compete on a fair and respectful playing field.
Contestants who fail to comply with these standards render themselves liable to our Zero Tolerance policy.
a. Zero Tolerance
Any individual found engaging in activity which we believe, in our discretion, falls within our definition of cyber bullying will face serious repercussions, including:
- Account suspension and deactivation
- Ejection of you and your act from the competition, including other implicated acts/and members
- Reporting of you and your actions to your school and or parents
- Reporting of you and your actions to the local police.
Our decision to take action against you pursuant to this Policy shall be made by us taking into account the information available to us, and any such decision is final and we are not obligated to enter into further correspondence or discussions with you or any other party, in respect of the decision.
For more details please see our User Conduct Policy contained on the Website.
3. Prevention Strategies
The MSA team have developed a list of strategies for preventing cyber bullying and promoting a safe user environment, some of which are set out below. It is by no means a finite list and we are constantly working on ways to improve our methods.
If you have any feedback regarding any of these methods or strategies, please email us at enquiries@myschoolact.com or feel free to comment on our company blog.
a. Identity Privacy
The MSA registration process prevents you from giving out too much information. We encourage you to avoid displaying your full name and strongly recommend that you don't share any other personal information.
b. Video Content Approval
All user generated video content must be approved by MySchoolAct to ensure entries do not contain content that falls outside the MySchoolAct competition criteria (e.g. drugs, violence and other mature content).
c. User Moderation
We have built a self moderation button that will send a message to MySchoolAct flagging innapropriate comments.
If you try to post a comment that uses inappropriate language, users may flag the comment as innapropriate. Should you continue trying to post inappropriate language on comment boards, your account may be suspended and your entry to the competition rejected.
d. Reporting
Anyone has the ability to report users who are engaging in inappropriate behaviour. Simply email us at enquiries@myschoolact.com and your email will be sent directly to MSA management, who will investigate the matter.
We recommend that you also take note of the time and location of the innapropriate comment to assist MySchoolAct staff to investigate the comment.
NB: If you are a victim of cyber bullying, we ask that you do not retaliate or engage with your bully. If you do, you run the risk of subjecting yourself to our very strict Zero Tolerance policy.
The best thing you can do is ignore the bully and report the issue to us, so that we can directly deal with the matter.
e. Account Deactivation
MSA will instantly suspend and/or delete the accounts of individuals who have allegedly engaged in behaviour that falls within our definition of cyber bullying.
We will then investigate the matter and circumstances within which it matter occurred. If we find that the individual in question has engaged in cyber bullying, his/her account will be permanently deleted.
